BLK RVA is a collaborative initiative between Richmond Region Tourism and an Action Team of community members focused on developing unique ways to attract tourism while highlighting Richmond’s Black culture. The campaign launched in August of 2019, after two years of planning.
BLK RVA provides opportunities for residents and tourists to support Black-owned businesses through in-person patronage and online engagement and encompasses four pillars: Arts and Entertainment, Food and Drink, History and Community.
Because BLK RVA continues to be community driven, we are interested in selecting a five-member regionally represented volunteer Advisory Team to guide its future. The team will also include one or two former BLK RVA Action Team members, who will serve for one year.
The goal of the BLK RVA Advisory Team will be to review and share their thoughts/ideas on campaign strategies that will highlight and promote the Black experience and advance black-owned businesses in RVA. The advisory team may be asked to do media interviews and participate in presentations.
REQUIREMENT: Advisory Team members will serve one, two-year term. Each member is required to attend quarterly and transition meetings. Currently, meetings are virtual.
